Eliminate Underarm Sweating | Dr. Beverly Fischer

We’ve all been there. You’re headed to an important meeting, a dinner date, or a conference; It’s hot, and by the time you’ve walked through the city to get to your destination, you’re feeling sweaty and uncomfortable.

Your deodorant has worn off – and you’re feeling the underarm sweat, which is making you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable, even if you’re only feeling a bit moist.

Nobody likes underarm sweat. So, what if we told you that there was a way you can be rid of this issue altogether, and never have to worry about “pit stains,” moisture, or discomfort again! Well, it’s the truth – and there are two ways to do it.

We’ll discuss those, as well as the cause of excessive underarm sweating, now.

Hyperhidrosis: Overactive Sweat Cells

If it’s 90 degrees and muggy, you’re going to sweat, no matter who you are. But if you have severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (hyperhidrosis for short), you may find yourself sweating even if it’s mild outside.

Hyperhidrosis means that your sweat cells do not react properly to heat, and that your sweat glands significantly exceed your body’s “normal” requirements for cooling. This means that coping with underarm sweating can be a daily struggle.

Wondering how you can deal with hyperhidrosis, or simply eliminate underarm sweating? You’ve got two options.

1. Botox Injections For Excessive Underarm Sweating

Botox is used for many different things, and it has been found that it has the ability to reduce the activity of the sweat glands. It was approved by the FDA for use in hyperhidrosis treatment in 2004.

The process for treatment with Botox is quite simple. Using a specialized needle, a qualified aesthetician or surgeon will inject your armpits with Botox in multiple areas. In turn, this will “deactivate” the sweat glands.

Treatment is relatively pain-free and can be delivered in just minutes. Typically, results will last for about 4-6 months, though some patients report longer-lasting results. After this, re-treatment will likely be needed.

2. Precision TX Laser Treatment

Precision TX Laser treatment uses a specialized, powerful laser to target sweat glands in the treatment area and destroy them. A very small cannula (a tube about the size of a pen tip) is gently placed under the skin.

Using the proprietary SideLaze™ fiber, laser energy is directed above the cannula into the surface of the skin, targeting both sweat glands and hair follicles. Then, the sweat glands are destroyed.

The procedure takes about one hour and is usually delivered using topical numbing agents. Most patients feel little discomfort. There may be a bit of swelling and soreness, which will subside about a week after treatment.

The best part about Precision TX Laser treatment is that it is permanent. You will never have to come back for another treatment.
