Are you tired of struggling with sagging, drooping breasts? No matter the reason for your breasts being lower than you’d like, we can help you achieve a more youthful contour with a breast lift. Dr. Fischer will create a custom procedure to give you the beautiful results you deserve.
What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift (or mastopexy) helps your breasts regain a more youthful look by lifting and reshaping the breast tissue. It can reverse the effects of aging, pregnancy, weight loss, and breastfeeding.
Dr. Beverly Fischer has performed countless mastopexy surgeries in Baltimore. She’ll help you achieve the youthful-looking breasts you deserve.
Candidates for Breast Lift
If your breasts have changed and become droopy or sagging due to weight loss, aging, or pregnancy, you are likely a good candidate for breast lift surgery. Additionally, you are likely an ideal candidate for this procedure if you meet the following criteria:
- Are a nonsmoker
- Your nipples are pointed downward
- You have sagging breast skin
- Your breasts look “deflated.”
- Are in good overall health
- Have maintained a stable weight
- Have one breast hanging lower than the other
Breast Lift Procedure
Your breast lift procedure in Baltimore will begin with the administration of general anesthesia. Once that kicks in, Dr. Fischer will start by making an incision around the breasts. The type of incision used will depend on the results you’re looking for.
The type of incisions include the anchor or lollipop incision. The lollipop incision runs around the areola and down the breast crease, while the anchor incision is made around the areola, down the breast, and then horizontally in the breast fold.
The breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve your contours and firmness. Dr. Fischer will also reposition your areola and nipple to a more appropriate position. Once the incisions are closed, you can start your recovery.
The procedure takes about 2-2 ½ hours.
Breast Lift Recovery
As you begin your recovery, you will be given supportive, waterproof bandages and a surgical bra designed to help you heal faster and minimize swelling and bruising. Prescription medication can treat any discomfort. Also, make sure you’re getting enough rest and keeping your breasts iced for the first 48-72 hours.
After about a week, you can return to work and perform some light activities. You’ll want to continue to wear your surgical bra, rest as much as possible, and avoid strenuous activity for the first 2-3 weeks.
You can resume more strenuous activity and return to your regular routine after 2-3 weeks. Any swelling should have subsided at this point as well. We’ll provide you with silicone sheets to help fade any scars.
Breast Lift Results
You’ll likely notice some initial results immediately, but the full results won’t be visible for several weeks as the swelling and bruising goes down. As your breasts settle in the months after surgery, you’ll be able to see what your breast shape and position will be.
Your breasts can continue to change over time due to aging and gravity, but you can maintain your results for longer by maintaining your weight and sticking to a healthy lifestyle.
