Liposuction – Small Changes, Big Differences

Liposuction Back to Blog

The holidays are here, which means you’re about to get sucked into a whirlwind of shopping, decorating, volunteering, and of course, hosting or participating in huge family feasts. The end result for many people is weight gain that they resolve to address in the new year.

What you might not have considered is the role liposuction could play in helping you reach your goals. If you can’t seem to get rid of stubborn fat, even with exercise (we all know that target fat loss doesn’t work), or if your good intentions fall by the wayside each year due to a busy lifestyle, there’s no reason you can’t use liposuction to improve your appearance in small ways that add up to a major impact.

Liposuction for All Sizes

There’s a common misconception that only people dealing with significant amounts of excess weight are good candidates for liposuction. The goal of liposuction isn’t weight loss, but rather fat removal to reshape a specific area of the body. A small amount of weight loss is just a pleasant side effect.

Liposuction can make a difference even if you’re at a healthy weight, simply by removing stubborn fat pockets that no amount of exercise and dieting seem capable of addressing. Unlike exercise, liposuction can help to remove fat in target areas.

Modern advances in liposuction technology are making it easier and safer to target even small problem areas. In some cases, only local anesthetic is required, and patients can return to normal activities in just a couple of days with these minimal procedures.

In addition, you may be surprised at the areas you can target. While larger areas like the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs are common targets for liposuction, you can also treat areas like the upper arms or lower legs, the back, the face, and more, improving your body contours and boosting your confidence through minor changes.

The point is, you don’t have to live with pockets of fat, small or large, that cause you to cover up and make you insecure about your appearance. Liposuction could be the final piece in the puzzle when it comes to making the most of your diet and exercise regimen.

When to Schedule Your Liposuction Procedure

Naturally, you can schedule liposuction or other cosmetic procedures at any time of year, but the fall and winter months are an ideal time to consider these procedures. When the weather turns cooler, you’re naturally going to cover up with more layers, which helps to hide any swelling or bruising. You can’t do that in a bikini, and wearing layers in summer might raise some eyebrows (and leave you sweaty and uncomfortable, to boot).

In addition, many surgeries require you to avoid the sun as you heal, and you won’t have this problem during the winter. This season is rife with holidays that could provide downtime for recovery, and you’ll be healed up well in advance of warm summer temperatures, when you can show off your newly slim and rejuvenated figure.
