What is Botox? 

Botox is a neuromodulator treatment formulated with botulinum toxin type A. Small amounts of Botox are effectively injected into your desired treatment area to halt the movement of your problem-causing muscles. This treatment can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, treat cases of excessive sweating, reduce muscle pain, and relieve migraines. 

Candidates for Botox 

To determine if you are an ideal candidate for Botox, it is recommended that you schedule a consultation with our staff at the Advanced Center for Plastic Surgery in Towson, Maryland. Candidates for Botox must be in good health and have no known allergies to botulinum toxin. Candidates may seek Botox for treatment of pain, excessive muscle contractions, excessive sweating, chronic migraines, overactive bladder, or for cosmetic purposes due to the effects of aging. Botox can be a preventative treatment for wrinkles before they emerge or can be performed after they have already developed.

Botox Treatment 

During Botox treatment, your injector specialist will inject small amounts of Botox into your treatment area. You and your injector will determine the best treatment areas, and then your experienced injector will determine the appropriate dosage. Most Botox injections take less than 30 minutes to complete.  

Botox Recovery 

After your Botox treatment, avoid lying flat for about 4 hours and massaging the treatment area. Your injector will go over aftercare instructions with you.  

Botox Results 

You can start to see results within a couple of days. Your full results will develop after seven to fourteen days, with long-term results lasting three to four months. To maintain your desired look, maintenance appointments are recommended and will be determined with your injector.
