Remove excess skin and fat and tighten and firm your body with a body lift. Whether due to significant weight loss, aging, or genetics, with a body lift, Dr. Fischer and her skilled team at The Advanced Center for Plastic Surgery in Baltimore can help you achieve the toned body you’ve been dreaming of.
What is a Body Lift?
A body lift procedure in Baltimore is exactly what you might expect—a “facelift” for your body. If your abdomen, thighs, back, and buttocks have excess skin and fat and seem to be drooping or sagging, you’ll likely benefit from this procedure, which tightens loose, sagging skin and removes fat to create a beautiful, balanced body. A body lift surgery is the most effective way to restore the middle and lower parts of your body.
Candidate for a Body Lift
If your back or bottom feels heavy, looks like it’s sagging, and literally “pulls” you down, you’re likely a good candidate for a body lift. These areas are difficult to address through diet and exercise alone, and exercise is never going to remove excess skin. A body lift is typically the best and safest way to address the issue.
In general, ideal body lift candidates also meet the following criteria:
- Those in generally good health
- Have realistic expectations
- Individuals with a significant amount of excess skin in one or multiple areas
- Those without medical conditions that could impair the healing process
- Nonsmokers
- Individuals committed to leading a healthy lifestyle
Body Lift Procedure
Dr. Fischer and her team can help you transform your body into the one you’ve always wanted. To start the body lift procedure, we’ll first take “before” pictures and then lead you to our state-of-the-art surgical suite. From there, we’ll administer general anesthesia to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure.
Dr. Fischer will then make incisions in the treatment area, remove excess tissue and fat, and tighten the skin of the upper abdomen down to the mid-thigh to eliminate back rolls and create a smooth, firmer silhouette.
Once your remaining tissue and muscles are reshaped and tightened, Dr. Fischer will close your incisions, and you’ll be ready to start your recovery.
Body Lift Recovery
Before you leave our Baltimore office, we’ll provide you with a compression garment that will help support better healing. You’ll be able to go home the same day as your body lift surgery, but you’ll need a friend or family member to drive you home and take care of you for the first few days. You will see swelling, bruising, and discomfort, but we’ll also prescribe pain medication to ensure you’re comfortable as you heal.
Dr. Fischer will instruct you on how to care for your incisions and any drains placed to collect excess fluid.
You should rest as much as possible for the first two weeks. After two weeks, you can return to work, but you should continue to wear your compression garment for several weeks more. You should wait a few months before you return to strenuous activities and exercise.
Body Lift Results
You’ll be able to see some of your initial results immediately, but most of the significant results will still be hidden by swelling and bruising. As you heal and the swelling subsides in the weeks and months after your body lift, you’ll be able to see more improvements. Full results can take anywhere from six months to two years to completely show up.
To maintain your results as long as possible, you’ll want to practice a healthy lifestyle. A body lift will not stop the aging process, but as you age, your body will be firmer and smoother than if you didn’t have surgery.
