Non-Surgical Back to BlogThe human skin is a marvelous example of engineering and design. It has the amazing ability to protect the entire body from external attacks. And the truth is that every single day, your skin is under attack.
Pollutants in the environment, sun, wind, snow and other debris bombard your skin 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While the skin does an amazing job at preventing these things from affecting the inside of our body, these attacks do eventually take a toll on our skin.
One way that this is evident is in the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet and age spots on the skin. This is also evident by hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. Individuals who have battled with acne over the years may have the scars from this on their face.

Thankfully, there is a treatment that is readily available that people can use to repair some of the damage that the environment places on their skin. This treatment is called microdermabrasion.
Many people are familiar with the term dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is a procedure that is used to treat deep facial lines or severe sun damage. Microdermabrasion is non-invasive. Its purpose is to affect the outermost layer of dead skin cells. Once the outermost layer of dead skin cells is removed, a person is left with younger, healthier-looking skin.
The best candidates for microdermabrasion are individuals who are concerned about the effects that the environment has had on their skin. When they look in the mirror, they may see that they have uneven pigmentation, skin texture problems, and minor scars. Patients who are battling with acne, as well as those who are battling with rosacea, may also see some improvement in their condition after using microdermabrasion.

Although microdermabrasion is not designed to penetrate as deeply as dermabrasion, it can still produce some remarkable results. Some minor imperfections can become less visible or may be removed altogether as a result of this treatment. The best candidates for microdermabrasion are healthy adults who have a realistic expectation about what the procedure can do for them. It’s not designed to correct sagging skin or other serious skin defects.
The medical community and the cosmetic community are learning new things every single day about why and how the human skin is able to do what it does. This has encouraged them to create new procedures, like microdermabrasion, that work in harmony with the body’s natural healing and rejuvenating process. This has allowed people to look younger for longer and to have a face and skin that they are proud of.
