Are you considering breast augmentation? With any major surgical procedure, there are questions you want addressed before even considering moving forward to ensure you know exactly what the surgery entails and if you’re a good fit. We’ve compiled a list of the top 10 questions we get about breast augmentations procedures:

1. What is a  breast augmentation procedure?

This procedure involves using breast implants or a fat transfer breast augmentation to increase the size of your breasts. This can  include inserting new breast implants, exchanging existing breast implants, having a breast lift or a combination of breast implant with a lift.

2. What makes someone a good candidate for breast augmentation?

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you are someone who would like to achieve the following:

  • You want to increase the size and volume of your breasts

3. What is the best type of breast implant for my augmentation?

Dr. Fischer offers saline and top of the line, extra cohesive silicone breast implants that decrease rippling and create a softer and more natural feel. Our experts will make sure your breasts look as natural as possible, no matter what you choose for the implant. There are two options: moderate plus or high profile. Moderate plus is best for anyone that wants larger breasts but still have a natural sloped look. High profile is best for anyone looking to have voluptuous breasts and show more cleavage. All breast implant types and sizing are discussed at your consultation with your plastic surgeon. 4. Will a breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer?

Breast implants do not cause breast cancer.. While it is true that women with breast implants have a slightly increased, but still extremely low risk of developing Anaplastic Large-cell Lymphoma (ALCL), that is not due to the augmentation and ALCL is not connected to breast cancer.

5. Should I wait until I am done having children before getting a breast augmentation?

Recovery is fairly simple. Your breasts will be wrapped in gauze and an elastic bandage, for example, recovery bra, to help with swelling as well as support. You will typically be discharged after you are stable, which is about 1 to 2 hours after returning to your room from the procedure.
