Facial Rejuvenation - Dr. Beverly Fischer

These days, procedures like Botox and filler injections have become so commonplace that you can have them done on your lunch hour and return to work. Of course, for safety, even simple procedures should be performed by licensed professionals, and you definitely need to find a trusted medical specialist for more intensive procedures like facial rejuvenation.

What is facial rejuvenation? The term could encompass any cosmetic procedure (surgical or non-surgical) intended to restore a youthful appearance. This could include anything from minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, addressing sagging skin, and resurfacing skin to create a fresh, youthful glow, to surgical procedures like facelifts.

There is a lot of pressure on women to maintain a youthful appearance, and naturally, you always want to look your best and age gracefully, but you might be understandably concerned about invasive procedures. The good news is that there are many options to help you reach your rejuvenation goals without exceeding your comfort level. Here are a few safe and effective options to consider, ranked from least to most invasive.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve the application of chemicals directly on the skin to induce significant exfoliation. Obagi and VI facial peels can help to address a variety of skin woes, from acne, to scarring, to signs of aging and sun damage like pigmentation, wrinkles, and more.

The procedure must be performed by a professional in the office setting. Depending on the potency of the product (peels range from light, to medium, to deep), the procedure could take anywhere from just a few minutes to about an hour and a half. You should anticipate 1-2 weeks of recovery time.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing involves the use of lasers to heat the skin, removing layers and promoting tissue coagulation to deliver skin-tightening results. There are many different lasers on the market today, but a couple of the most technologically advanced are the Halo™ hybrid fractional laser, offering high efficacy with minimal downtime, and the BroadBand Light, or BBL, therapy laser. If you want to firm and tone skin while improving texture, laser resurfacing is an ideal treatment option. Downtime could be as little as just a few hours, or up to 1-2 days.

Microneedling

This process involves the use of tiny needles to puncture the top layer of skin, causing “micro-injuries” that trigger a healing response, creating new collagen, elastin, and other connective tissues. This can result in the breakdown of scars and tissue remodeling to tighten skin, improve tone and texture, and treat wrinkles, with minimal discomfort or downtime. Some processes, like Vivace, pair microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) treatment to enhance results.

Precisions TX Laser

This minimally-invasive procedure is designed to treat the lower face and neck area. It is performed using a patented SideLaze800™ side-firing fiber to ensure precision sculpting and a ThermaGuide™ temperature sensing cannula for optimal safety during the procedure. This equipment is inserted into a tiny incision in the skin and directed by a technician to target areas of fat and skin laxity.

The end result is a reduction in fat and tightening of the skin in the lower face and neck, creating a tighter, more youthful appearance. The procedure takes about an hour and entails minimal downtime for recovery.

Facelifts

Cosmetic surgery isn’t for everyone, but if you’re seeking dramatic results, there’s no better way to turn back the clock on aging. The facelift procedure is performed under general anesthesia and it is used to tighten the skin of the face and neck for a youthful, lifted appearance. The procedure could take anywhere from about an hour to several hours, depending on the case. Recovery time is generally 2-3 weeks.
