Everyone wants long, full, dark lashes, but without the use of mascara or fake lashes, how do you achieve the beautiful lashes you want? Say hello to Latisse! This prescription medication will not only lengthen your lashes but also darken them and make them more voluminous in only a few months.
What is Latisse?
Latisse is the only FDA-approved medication for enhancing eyelashes. It has been clinically shown to prolong the eyelash growth phase and provide fuller, longer, and darker lashes in only 16 weeks.
Candidates for Latisse
Almost everyone is a good candidate for Latisse. It doesn’t matter the length of your lashes. It’s a perfect treatment for anyone looking to fill in thinning lashes, add more volume to lashes you already have, or darken the appearance of your lashes.
There are a few factors that make some people not good candidates for Latisse, including if you take heart medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are currently using antibiotics, have excessive reddening or irritation around the eye area, have had eye surgery in the past, or have certain eye conditions.
Latisse Treatment
Latisse is an at-home treatment that you apply yourself. When you come into the office, we’ll show you how to use it so you’re comfortable with it.
You carefully apply it across the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of your eyelashes. It should never be applied to your lower lids, in the eye, or used as an eyedrop.
Each night, you’ll want to remove all makeup and contact lenses. You’ll then prepare the treatment by placing one drop of Latisse on the tip of the applicator. Next, you’ll immediately brush the applicator along the skin at the base of your upper eyelids, going from the inner part of the lash line to the outer part. Blot any excess solution with a tissue as needed. Throw away the applicator once finished, and repeat the process on the other eye with a new applicator.
Latisse Aftercare
After applying Latisse, you should wait at least 15 minutes before inserting your contact lenses, using makeup, or using eye drops.
Results vary from patient to patient. Some people see noticeable results after a month or two, but most patients see full results in 16 weeks. After 16 weeks, you can discuss further use of Latisse with your provider.
