What are Chemical Peels?

Using a chemical solution, we can take years off your face, neck, chest, or hands. A chemical peel treatment uses specific types of safe acidic solution to exfoliate your skin so that the dead skin cells slough off, leaving you with brighter, smoother skin and fewer fine lines. We perform two different types of chemical peel treatments, which we’ll review with you in detail during your consultation. They include:

How do I prepare for a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are a great way to rejuvenate your skin but can be harsh on compromised or gentle skin. This means that preparing for your chemical peel involves avoiding certain activities like using retinoids, using a tanning bed, overexposure to the sun, shaving, and waxing. If you have any open wounds or injuries on your face, you may need to wait for them to heal before having a chemical peel.

Are chemical peels safe for all skin types?

Chemical peels are safe for most skin types. Your skin type will determine the depth of the chemical peel that is safest for your skin. For example, sensitive skin types may only use a mild or superficial chemical peel.

How do I care for my skin after a chemical peel?

It is essential to follow your provider's aftercare instructions, which may include avoiding sun exposure, using a gentle cleanser, applying a high-SPF sunscreen, and moisturizing frequently to promote healing and prevent complications.
