Why is it important that Dr. Beverly Fischer and her staff are female?
Support
Aside from being female, Dr. Fischer’s extensive experience as a renowned plastic surgeon gives her the skill and expertise to perform all of the procedures we offer. The fact that she’s a woman means that she and her staff also understand women’s unique emotional needs as well.

Do you offer financing options?
Support
Since cosmetic surgery is considered “elective,” and therefore not covered by most insurances, we work with our patients to provide payment plans convenient to them.
Financing is available through Care Credit. Please call our office at (443) 892-7542 to see what financing options are offered.

How is cosmetic surgery different from reconstructive surgery?
Services
Cosmetic surgery is a type of plastic surgery and refers to reshaping normal body structures like the face, buttocks or abdomen in order to enhance your appearance. It’s not typically covered by insurance since it’s elective.
Reconstructive surgery seeks to improve the functionality of the body by improving abnormal structures that are caused by trauma, infection, disease, developmental abnormalities or congenital defects. It is generally covered by insurance, although to varying levels. At our offices, we perform cosmetic surgery.

Which breast implant size is best for me?
Services
At your consultation, Dr. Fischer will take the time to talk with you and understand your breast augmentation goals. If you have photos of breasts that you like, please bring them.
You can also try on our “sizers” and see how different shapes and sizes look on your body. We’ll review the options together and provide expert recommendations on which are the best fit and shape for your body, and then you can decide.

Will I be awake during my plastic surgery?
Procedure Prep
Some procedures only require local anesthesia with sedation, and we use the minimum required to keep you comfortable. Some procedures may require general anesthesia. Dr. Fischer will review both options with you and together you will make the decision that works best for you.
-
Where will my plastic surgery procedure be performed?
Procedure Prep
In our office and state-of-the-art operating room.
-
What do I need to do to prepare for my plastic surgery procedure?
Procedure Prep
Most of our services require little preparation. You’ll attend a consultation first, where we’ll talk about your goals and decide the best course of action. Sometimes, you don’t need work done and we’ll let you know if that’s the case.
Next, we’ll schedule a pre-operative appointment, where you will get pre-and post-operative instructions and can ask any other questions that you may have. On the day of the procedure, we’ll make you comfortable and our friendly staff will help you every step of the way.

Why do I need to stop smoking before plastic surgery?
Procedure Prep
Incisions that take longer to heal create more prominent scars. Since nicotine slows healing, it can produce more scarring. We usually don’t recommend surgery to smokers for this reason.

How can I minimize swelling or bruising after plastic surgery?
Aftercare
Every surgery (and patient!) is unique. We do our best to give detailed post-operative instructions on managing swelling and bruising, as well as a general timeline on the healing process. We will provide you with tips on using ice or warm, moist compresses depending on the surgery. In some cases, we recommend taking Arnika Forte pre and post-procedure.
-
What is plastic surgery recovery like?
Aftercare
Each recovery is different. Dr. Fischer and her team will prescribe you suitable pain medications to minimize any discomfort that you’re feeling. The vast majority of our procedures are outpatient procedures that have rapid recovery and minimal discomfort.
-
Will you be on call following my surgery?
Aftercare
Yes! Dr. Fischer and her nursing staff are available to answer your questions by phone at any time, day or night, following your surgery. You can expect a check-in phone call from Dr. Fischer on the day of or the day following your surgery.
-
Will I get to go home the same day as my plastic surgery procedure?
Aftercare
All of our procedures are outpatient, so you will go home that day. You will most likely be required to have a family member or friend come to pick you up after surgery, and it is recommended that they stay with you for 24 hours. We will give you detailed instructions at your pre-operative appointment.
