Neck Lift

What Is a Neck Lift?

Also called a lower rhytidectomy, a neck lift is a procedure whereby excess skin and tissue is removed from the neck or jawline to create a younger, tighter contour. Necks are an important feature since they’re one of the first things people notice. If you’ve always wanted to change the look of your neck, or have recently noticed sagging, neck bands, or loose skin, this procedure will make a big difference.

Reasons to Consider

How to Tell if You Need a Neck Lift

If you’ve been able to take good care of your face but your neck doesn’t seem to match, you might want to opt for a neck lift procedure. Whether it’s due to heredity, environmental factors, weight gain, stress, or plain old gravity, a neck lift can help with serious neck wrinkling and sagging (aka neck bands or turkey neck), or even a double chin.

Benefits of a Neck Lift

A neck lift is long-lasting, natural-looking, and permanent. Your surgery will either seek to reduce or remove excess skin underneath the chin area or tighten the neck muscles to enhance definition and create a smoother transition from your face down to your decolletage. Experience a boost in confidence immediately following the procedure.

Achieving Full Facial Revitalization

Neck lifts are relatively simple outpatient procedures that remove excess skin and glandular tissue and then stretch the skin to restore a youthful look. Liposuction is, in most cases, included in a neck lift to remove stored fat before muscles are repaired and excess skin is removed. Often, lower rhytidectomies or neck lifts are paired for an additional cost with:

Like facelifts, many of our patients also enjoy these benefits, such as a quicker recovery time, a faster but perfected technique, natural-looking results, and a no general anesthesia option.

General anesthesia is available for patients that feel more comfortable being less aware during surgery.

What to Expect

From the moment you walk through our doors until you’re ready to put your best face forward in the world, we love to pamper you. Our relaxing and inviting space has been designed to offer a spa-like experience, with a soothing environment and an unhurried vibe to get you ready to show off your refreshed look.

How to Prepare

Pre-Operative Appointment

About three weeks prior to your neck lift, you’ll come to our offices to sign consent forms and receive pre- and post-operative instructions.

Date of the Procedure

When you come in for your neck lift procedure, we’ll take your before photos and then Dr. Fischer will come mark up the area according to your goals and her plan for you that day. You will then walk back to the surgical suite and our team will get you prepped for surgery by connecting you to the monitors and inserting your IV.

Then, we will administer either local or general anesthesia. If you choose general anesthesia, you will meet with our anesthesiologist who will explain their process and plan. If you choose local anesthesia, you will first take a gentle sedative an hour before surgery to calm and relax you before walking back to the onsite operating room.

Dr. Fischer will perform the neck lift procedure within 1-2 hours using the innovative tools and a perfected technique. You’ll be able to go home that day, but you will need a caretaker to drive you to and from the practice. We also recommend having a family or friend around to assist for the first three days after surgery. Any discomfort can be treated with prescription medication provided at your pre-op appointment.

Recovery

First 24 hours

You will go home wearing a large head dress and will have two drains. Both of these will be removed the next morning after your surgery date.

Week 1

The head dress will be replaced with a much more comfortable jaw bra that you can remove when you take a shower. You will wear this jaw bra 24-7 for the entire first week.

You’ll be feeling more comfortable after about three days, and most swelling and bruising will have subsided by seven days. Make sure that you’re getting enough rest to avoid strenuous activity for the first one to two weeks.

Week 2

The sutures will be removed and you will now only wear your jaw bra at night.

You can resume your normal routine, including more strenuous activity. We can discuss continuing treatments if desired to keep your skin looking its best.

Cost

Our neck lift procedure varies in cost from person to person, depending on the patient's goals. Neck lifts can also be combined with a facelift or eye lift at an additional charge. To learn more about neck lifts and the cost of your unique experience, please schedule a consultation.
