Spruce Up Your Winter Skin Care Routine with ZO Skincare Products

Skincare Treatment

There are so many things to love about the winter season. The holidays are in full swing, there are warm fires to enjoy—and cozy evenings to relish. But the dry air can wreak havoc on our skin. The good news is that a few preventative measures can make all the difference between flaky, dull and supple, healthy skin. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite ZO skin care products to show you how to protect your beautiful skin and make it one of your favorite things about the season!

Why Winter Can Be So Rough

With cold, dry air outside and artificially warm, dry air inside, the skin's barrier becomes compromised. Dry air causes itchiness, flakiness, and (you guessed it) dry skin. For many of us, these skin concerns are an annoying part of winter, and for some of us, they’re even more frustrating, leading to painful and itchy eczema or even psoriasis. The Advanced Center for Plastic Surgery proudly offers ZOⓇ Skin Health products to keep your skin looking and feeling its best throughout the winter months and beyond. We are zealots about great skin care and how to help dry skin in winter, so you can be sure that these products are safe, affordable, and highly effective at keeping your skin healthy

How to Help Dry Skin in Winter with ZO Skin Health

Created by world-renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi, these products were carefully formulated to help improve your skin’s health throughout the year, and especially during the winter. To achieve the best results, we recommend adopting a full regimen with a set of interdependent steps that cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, nourish and soothe your skin. Here is an example of how you can use ZO Skin Health products to prevent your skin from cracking, restore much needed moisture, and give you that beautiful winter glow, even when it’s dry outside (and inside).

1. Cleanse: Usually the first step, cleansers are designed to remove makeup, debris, and sebum (an oily, dirty skin secretion), while also killing the bacteria that can cause breakouts and acne. For the winter months, cleansers can add moisture to counter the effects of dry air. Here are two great choices:

ZO Skin Health Gentle Cleanser: Use this silky gel for all skin types. Although gentle, it is mighty, washing away oil, makeup, and debris with a glycerin and botanical blend for a real refreshing clean. With sodium lauroyl oat amino acids to maintain the skin barrier and retain moisture plus a botanical extract blend that packs antioxidant power, it’s more than just a cleanser.

ZO Skin Health Hydrating Cleanser: This product restores moisture to your skin. Made for skin types ranging from sensitive to dry to normal, its dual-action sulfate-free formula is especially rich and creamy with both glycerin and allantoin to hydrate and soothe sensitive skin and lift oil and makeup. It helps seal in moisture and protect against dryness.

2. Exfoliate: The next step in the regimen, exfoliation is best performed about two times a week to remove dead skin and blackheads on the upper layer of skin. It’s done chemically or physically with an abrasive substance that can slough off the cells and reveal a fresh layer of skin. This enhances skin tone and color and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Exfoliating prepares your skin to better absorb the ingredients in the next steps, including moisturizers, serums, and creams. It eradicates dull looking skin and unveils a fresh, softer face.

ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser: Made for normal to oily skin and skin prone to acne, this purifying gel features vitamin E (antioxidant) filled microbeads that help remove dead skin and unclog pores both physically and chemically to banish dullness. Salicylic acid helps penetrate deep into pores for a deeper clean.

ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish: Designed for all skin types, this polish was named one of the 13 Best Face Scrubs for Smooth, Glowing Skin by the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab. It uses magnesium crystals to exfoliate dead skin cells for a clear, smooth, and even toned complexion, leaving smoother, softer, glowing skin that’s ready for the next step.

3. Moisturize: When you exfoliate, it’s essential to use a moisturizer directly after to help hydrate the skin and keep itchiness at bay. Moisturizer also helps your skin stay hydrated over time and gives you a healthy glow.

ZO Skin Health Hydrating Crème: Formulated for severely dry, red and post-procedure skin, this gloriously lightweight creme was awarded the “Seal of Acceptance” by National Eczema Association. It features ZOX12® complex to rejuvenate skin by reducing fine lines, replenishing moisture, and soothing irritation and redness to aid in skin healing.

4. Use a Balm or Cream: Apply this last to calm or soothe the skin. Creams and balms are especially effective at providing long-lasting moisture.

ZO Skin Health Recovery Crème: Made for those with dry and sensitive skin, this sulfate-free creme is a rich hydrator that refreshes skin, builds resilience, and reduces lines. Its ZCORE™ visibly strengthens neck skin.
