Body Lift

What Is a Body Lift?

A body lift procedure is exactly what you might expect – a “facelift” for your body. If your back and bottom droop for various reasons, you’ll benefit from this procedure, which tightens loose, sagging skin and removes fat to create a beautiful, balanced and more vibrant body. A body lift surgery is the most effective way to restore this part of your body.

Dr. Beverly Fischer has been performing this surgery for over 20 years and is a recognized cosmetic surgery expert in the Baltimore area.

Reasons to Consider

A body lift treatment is an outpatient procedure that can make a dramatic difference in the way you look and how you feel about your body. Our patients are so grateful to finally have this part of their body in line with the rest of their body and with their inner self.

Benefits of a Body Lift

Dr. Fischer and her team can help you transform your body into the one you’ve always wanted. She will remove excess tissue and tighten the skin of the upper abdomen down to the mid-thigh to eliminate back rolls and create a smooth, attractive silhouette.

Am I a Good Candidate?

If you have a back or bottom that feels heavy, looks like it’s sagging and literally “pulls” you down, you’re probably a good candidate for a body lift. These areas are difficult to enhance through diet and exercise, as all the exercise in the world will never remove excess skin. This approach is often the best and safest way to address the issue.

What to Expect

How to Prepare

At the consultation, Dr. Fischer will review your medical history and discuss your specific goals.

Pre-Operative Appointment

Three weeks prior to your body lift procedure, you’ll come to our offices to sign consent forms and receive very specific pre- and post-operative instructions.

Date of the Procedure

For a body lift, we’ll take your “before” photos and then you will meet our anesthesiologist, who will explain their process and plan. Dr. Fischer will then come in to “mark you up” with a marker according to her plan for you that day. You will then walk back to the surgical suite and our team will get you prepped for surgery by connecting you to the monitors and inserting your IV. Then we will administer general anesthesia, and Dr. Fischer will perform the body lift procedure with cutting-edge tools and high tension sutures. Drains will be placed and will remain for one week (you will not be able to take a shower until these drains are removed).

Afterward, we’ll make you comfortable with a compression garment designed to help you heal faster. You’ll be able to go home that day, and any discomfort can be treated with prescription medication.

Recovery

After 2 Days - 2 Weeks

Your drains will be removed at the end of the first week and you can take that long-awaited shower! You’ll be able to return to work at some point in this time period, depending upon the extent of the surgery. You’ll likely experience a good bit of swelling and bruising, but that will improve over time. You may even feel like you look worse than before, but you will improve! Make sure that you’re getting enough rest and avoid strenuous activity for the first 1-2 weeks. Keep wearing your compression garment for several weeks.

After 1-2 Months

You’ll notice a big difference in swelling, although it can continue for about 6 months or more. You can resume your normal routine, including more strenuous activity. Your shape will be more proportional and aesthetically pleasing, and your clothes will look and fit better.

Cost

A body lift procedure varies in cost depending on the individual patient's goals. It can also be combined with an arm lift for an additional charge. To learn more about body lifts and the cost of your unique experience, please schedule a consultation.
