How to Plump Hollow Areas with Dermal Fillers

Facial Rejuvenation Face & Neck Injectables & Fillers Treatment Non Surgical

dermal fillersOne of the top complaints from aging women is volume loss in the face, which often makes a person look old and tired. But we are here to tell you that there is a non-invasive solution to help refresh your face and fight signs of aging.Dermal fillers can serve as a viable source of facial rejuvenation for women that are nervous about surgical risks and downtime. Fillers don’t require invasive surgical procedure prep or recovery. In fact, there is no recovery at all! So, what do fillers do? When applied correctly, dermal filler products plump hollow areas and soften stubborn fine lines and wrinkles. They can even be used to enhance and volumize your lips!

What Are Dermal Fillers?

During the natural aging process, you begin to lose collagen under your skin, resulting in volume loss and hollowness in your face. Fillers are effective at restoring this lost volume. The injectables used in dermal fillers “fill in” the trouble areas you may be worried about, making skin appear plump and smooth, while erasing fine lines and wrinkles.

What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

A common question asked is, “are dermal fillers bad for you?” The answer is short and sweet; dermal fillers are not bad for you at all! Most fillers are HA, or hyaluronic acid fillers, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. You may be concerned about having them in your face, but don’t worry: these substances are soft and gel-like, and completely safe for injection.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

During the treatment, the dermal filler is skillfully injected under the skin, plumping the target area and/or minimizing the appearance of wrinkles. The results are instantaneous, so you can feel fresh and look great without a waiting period! Please note, however, that there may be some swelling, especially in the lips, that can be transient, though it will resolve in two or three days. You should also be aware that some injectables may cause swelling by drawing fluid to the injectable space.

Who Makes Good Candidates for Dermal Fillers?

Anyone worried about signs of aging, or self-conscious about wrinkles and sagging around the face, should consider dermal fillers as a non-invasive treatment option. That’s not all they can be used for, though - they can also help to address scarring. For those who have scars, such as leftover markings from past injuries, dermal fillers can be the perfect solution. You may also consider dermal fillers for acne scars.

Where Can You Use Dermal Fillers?

These fillers are typically used in the face, and often in the lips or cheeks. As mentioned above, some patients have used them to volumize their lips. But that’s not all, they can also be used for earlobes, or even the area under your eyes. Remember, dermal fillers aren’t just for minimizing fine lines - they can also be used to plump and volumize under your eyes, along your jawline, in your cheeks, and more!

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

The length of time that each dermal filler lasts depends on a number of factors. In addition to the individual patient, the choice of filler and specific appearance/desires will impact the time period between treatments. See below for a general guide on dermal fillers and touch ups.

There are many factors that determine how long a dermal filler injection lasts. The type of dermal filler you choose, where you get it injected, and how your skin reacts to the filler are just a few. Check out the guide we’ve written below to learn about the specific details for each filler type.

Dermal Fillers vs. Botox Injectables

For many years, BOTOX® was the preferred injectable treatment for wrinkles, but now, new products are used just as frequently. Unlike BOTOX®, which temporarily relaxes muscle movement in the face to reduce wrinkles, dermal fillers plump the target area, restore volume, and soften fine lines.
